Questions, Concerns, and Gentle Truths about Postpartum Circles

Thinking about joining a postpartum circle but feeling unsure?

You’re not alone.

Below are some of the most common thoughts parents share with us—and why they make sense. If you’re having these questions, you are in the right place.

🌼 I don’t have time. Everything feels overwhelming.

Having a newborn can completely upend your routines, your sleep, and your sense of time. That’s normal. Adding a circle to your routine can help to increase a sense of regularity while keeping the pressure low. There’s no pressure to stay the whole session or attend every week. Just a little connection can help you feel steadier. If you know you cannot attend the whole session, just let us know!

🌼 Leaving the house alone feels like too much. I’m too tired.

So many of our newborn circle members show up and say “This is the first time I’ve left the house alone with them” and what a gift to name it and process it with people who understand. Sometimes, going somewhere can help you feel better. Sometimes circle is the push you need to move forward. Come exactly as you are—no need to look or feel put together. You’re welcome in your sweats with your baby in pajamas.

🌼 I don’t know anyone. What if I don’t fit in?

Most parents feel this way at first. This is actually one reason why we created these programs. Finding your community is HARD but we are wanting to make it easier. You don’t need to have anything in common except this season of life. You’ll discover how much you share with others over time.

🌼 I’m worried I’m struggling more than everyone else.

Phew! We get it! Many parents feel exactly the same. Here, there’s no judgment—only understanding. Sharing what’s on your heart can be validating and supportive. You might be surprised who in circle is struggling, sometimes in the same ways and sometimes very different ones.

🌼 I’m not doing well enough to show up.

Come as you are. This space is here especially for the messy, tender days. You don’t have to feel okay to belong here. Often, mothers find that leaving the house for the first time to go to circle is exactly what they needed. In fact, when we are faltering or lost is when we need each other the most. Be brave, trust that you are not alone.

🌼 I should be able to handle this on my own.

You are strong and capable—and you also deserve care. Needing support doesn’t mean you’re failing. No one is meant to do this alone.

🌼 What if my baby cries the whole time, or misses a nap?

That’s okay. Babies cry and need comfort. No one minds. Early on, routines often shift as soon as they’re in place and weekly consistency for you can be just as important as wake windows and naps. We find babes often settle into the calm, familiar environment of our space and they learn to nap in different places. There’s always willing hands to hold a little one if you need a bathroom break!

🌼 I don’t think I really need this.

Postpartum support isn’t a luxury—it’s something every family deserves. Even when things are going well, having a place to connect can feel grounding. Sharing your positive experience can encourage other mothers and give you confidence.

🌼 I’ve already had a baby—do I really need this again?

Every baby, every postpartum season is different. Welcoming another child can bring new dynamics and new feelings. You deserve support in this chapter, too.

🌼 I can’t afford it.

Financial stress can make the postpartum time even more challenging. Our programs are open to everyone. We offer sliding scale pricing for all - and scholarships. Please reach out. We’ll find an option that feels comfortable.

💛 You belong here.

Whether this is your first baby or your third, you deserve community and care. You don’t have to do it alone.
